I was just wondering what people might be interested in playing.  I haven't played a sorcerer before so I was kind of considering that, but I'm not actually decided yet and pretty open.

I'd be down for Pathfinder or D&D.  As far as I'm concerned they are practically interchangeable.

Seems that Pathfinder is essentially the latest incarnation of the 3rd edition of DnD.  It also seems to be quiet popular from what we can tell when we looked around.  No one seems to play DnD 3.5 anymore (which is what Ash and I were last familiar with) instead they're playing Pathfinder.  Since Ash has volunteered to run the first getting-to-know-you game, it seemed like Pathfinder would be a good fit for everyone to start with.

Do you have any idea of what kind of character you'd like to play in the game?  I know if we have an idea of what we'd like play it might help Ash with ideas for what to run. I'm pretty flexible and I usually decided on race after I've gotten a class idea.  I haven't played a sorcerer before and was kind of interested in that.  I could just as easily play a fighter or barbarian though.  I've also thought of a druid and I'm always open to playing a rogue.  What about you?

Just like when I played World of Warcraft, I have never been tied to one particular class.  I find them all interesting in their own ways.  Perhaps to start with I might try a Ranger.  Of course this depends on the make up of the rest of the group.  You want to have a good balance.

I'll agree with that.  I'm pretty flexible so I'm waiting to see what y'all are looking at before I really get an idea.  I know Emmy mentioned playing an elf but I'm not sure what class she was thinking.

Wow, I saw these posts and I have been sooo busy with everything I haven't even found time to look into the charecters. When I came to my first DnD group I wanted a druid, and I have an elf marker but I can go human.  I prefer DPS, I can heal, I HATE to tank, but I prefer DPS. To be honest I want to be a elf Lock,  um but I can look on line. It seems if we have and Elf, I can be deviated easily. I'll probably go human. My default group is horde, even so I do play ally from time to time, and with a BE, NE, Dranai, or Worgon as an option I would go human.

Well if we have a ranger and rogue, I'm open to fighter or sorcerer. What do you all think? I'd probably do human fighter or maybe halfling sorcerer.

I am again inclined to lean towards Humans for that. Just that when I read their bios for D&D 4E they were the most versatile, and I'm rolling my dice that it's true here too.

That is true, Emmy. Humans in Pathfinder get +2 to any stat they wish, and get additional feats and skills.

I forgot to ask, you said the first meeting would be to develop Charecters? No gaming.  Cool cause I have no idea how to do that if I don't have a computer telling me what goes where. I know Pathfinder is basically the same as D&D, and while I do have a working charecter builder for that, could we touch building for D&D too? it seems better to fluent in both, or to me it does.  I also want to warn that while I at the moment have an HP officejet printer sitting beside me? it is in reality a 200 dollar paper weight. I am in the proccess of getting a second one, but until further notice I don't have a working printer. (it's the 6500, please, if ever you need to buy an hp printer? burn that into your brains and avoid it)  That all being said, I think to switch from a human. I want to review the handbooks and double check, but i remember from Dungeons that Elves are kinda of the ones for sneaking so being an elf makes more sense.  Are there different races? Like the who NE, BE thing for WoW?

Take a look at the links I posted to get an idea for pathfinder. Also remember that pathfinder is based off DnD 3.5 edition not the current 4th edition so the rules, stats, etc are different sometimes very much so. While the core idea is the same I'd recommend just looking at the pathfinder info for now or it might get very confusing. Also, we always create characters together so we can help each other and balance everything out. We'll have some blank character sheets so don't worry too much about the lack of printing.

Awesome. and I also have the files on my desktop for Pathfinder, or I find them if need be. I just have to read them. I will definately be going with an Elf though.

Wow, you were right Michelle. I should have read up first. I knew the elf piece, but when I did I saw they seemed to be geared to be hunters or rangers.   Which if you don't mind guys I want to change to a ranger. I Just...  I have a soft spot for the class. That's what my 90 is, that's where I spend most of my time thinking about it. I was going to try and find a new one for this but.. at least for the first it seems smartest to stick to what I know.  Does anyone mind that?

Emmy, you can play any character and/or race you want to. It's all good. That's a big part of the fun of the game, creating your character and working with the other players as they create theirs.

As for races, yeah, sure, some are more suited to some classes than others. If you're still thinking about the rogue, well, Elves actually make pretty good rogues, Halflings make better ones, and Humans and Half-Elves are pretty good too. But Elves are pretty good at everything. tongue But an Elf ranger is a nice solid character. Think of Legolas from Lord of the Rings. He'd be an Elf ranger for sure (possibly a fighter, but I'd say ranger). So it's a really good choice.

I'll work with what ever everyone else decides as I'm pretty open to what I'll play at the moment. To be fair I have as much fun playing races that are more suited for a class as much as those that aren't. One of the characters I had the most fun with was a barbarian elf. It's all about what interests you at the time. Sticking with something a little more familiar might be good to start, but if you change your mind and want to try something new we'll all help you out.

Just ordered the Core Rules on Amazon tonight.  $32 as opposed to $50.  Gotta love online shopping.
