A continent decimated by war and disease. A place that thrived 4 generations ago, but which now survives by a thread and the grace of all the gods.

Your grandparents enjoyed an almost utopian existence filled with music and wine, friendly competitions and contentment. The Humans dominated the land and the Dwarves the earth, although many different races filled this continent. Education and magical research were valued more than physical work because the Amicas city-states understood that “work accomplishes one thing today… research accomplishes many new things tomorrow.”

Large scale governments did not exist back then as the city states had abundance. When the population has all of its needs met, there is little need for powerful government. Those that served in the government ... Read more »

None would deny that opportunities for great adventure lie within the dank dungeons, winding caves, and sprawling wildlands of the world. It is a place of hardship broken only occasionally by a festival or an infrequent merchant caravan. The people of the tiny village face constant adversity from both the wilderness and the wiles of man. Wolves nip at their heels and cutpurses ply at their pockets.

Still many are drawn here to make their fortune cutting darkwood lumber in the lush forests of the vale. They are undaunted by the mist that hides the feral beasts, trolls and the restless souls of the dead that roam the forest.

Others journey to these remote f ... Read more »

Kor Alanth was a small, but immensely powerful island city-state situated in the center of the inner sea. Their trade-fleet ruled the economy of every nation within reach, and their massive mystical might kept any grumbling from other countries strictly to a minimum. Kor Alanth, in a very real way, ruled the world. All it took was a single artifact to bring it all crashing down.

No one still living knows which member of the Council of Archmagi created the Device. It was a portal, powered by the ambient magic of the land itself, and it could open a path to any of a thousand planes, a million worlds. It was supposed to usher in a new era of trade and exploration for the empire of Kor Alanth. Instead, all it brought was destruction. As the artifact powered up, it shredded the barrier between worlds. Hordes of the undead and the damned swarmed across the lan ... Read more »
