To escape the meager circumstances in which Damien was born, he joined an enclave of priests and acolytes that dedicated their lives to the worship of Gorum, the god of war. As a half-orc, Damien had to work twice as hard to earn the respect of his colleagues and mentors. He eventually established himself as a respected member within the enclave. However, he received word that his hometown had been completely decimated by a more violent sect of Gorum worshipers. Filled with a thirst for vengeance at the death of his family and the destruction of his home, he pursued the ones who did it and killed them all. His beliefs were thrown into question. How could the god that gave him shelter and whom he had grown to worship also move his followers to wreak such destruction against those he loved. As Damien stood amidst the bodies of the violent Gorum worshipers, Sarenrae, the god of peace, called out to him and made him her champion. He swore he would fight against those that sought to wreak destruction upon the world. He would fight to keep the peace in the remnants of this broken world. Damien traveled through the remaining towns and cities that remained. He came across Covenant and helped to defend it from plague-carriers when the rest of the party dropped down and showed promise that they could possibly stop the rifts. Damien joined up with them to return peace to the world.
