Sorry for so long being incommunicado. Things have been a touch busy.

I got a new job! A NEW new job! I'm officially head of QA for the upcoming Pathfinder MMO! (apparently I was always on their shortlist, but they couldn't talk to me unless I was local)

Also, I have a new child! (yes, I know, I put this second on the list, but he's numbah one in mah HEART!) His name is Mark William Hodgson, and he is most excellent, in a "Squealing Vomit Engine" kind of way.

How are all of you guys? I wanted to check on ya'll and letcha know that you is missed. Also, people still interested in a "play by post" game? I have an idea of how to run one that won't be terrible, I think.

Congratulations on both accounts!  We were just talking about you at the last game and wondering how things were.  Glad to hear things are doing well.  If you're still up for the play by post game I'm willing to give it a go.  Either way keep in touch.

So, how do you think you guys would feel about playing a Vampire game? Old school World of Darkness style?

I've never actually played any of the World of Darkness games.  I've heard about them, but I'm not really familiar with them.  Can you fill me in a bit on the setting etc?

Certainly.

A while back, oh say ten thousand years ago or so, there was a man named Caine. And Caine killed his brother. It was the first murder in the world, and as punishment, God cursed Caine to live forever.

Eventually, Caine grew so lonely in his immortality that he used magic to spread his curse to some mortals, and they became undead, like himself. He did not anticipate that these vampires he had created would follow in his footsteps, and embrace more vampires down through the years, and more, and more, and more... In his fury, Caine cursed each of his thirteen children, each in a way befitting their flaws. Then he left his vampire spawn and their clans of offspring to their own devices.

In the modern nights, those thirteen clans have spread throughout the underbelly of the mortal world, feuding and manipulating each other and their mortal pawns. But they are not the only supernatural being that lay hidden from mortal eyes. Werewolves stalk the wilderness, Faeries hide in the bodies of mortals, Ghosts haunt the darkest corners of the world, and Mages tweak reality to their whim. To be a vampire in the modern nights is to be constantly treading water against an undertow of political backstabbing and nightmarish foes from the shadows. Often times a group of vampires will band together for safety and support...

That would be you guys. A coterie of young vampires looking for survival and power in a dangerous world. There are basically two types of Vampire chronicles. The first is a modern nights game, where you have home city and a place in the power structure of that city. The second is a chronicle of ages, where the game starts in, say, the 1100s, in Europe, and your coterie deals with events through a timeline leading up to the modern nights.

Vampires in the setting are basically monstrous, though some are far more so than others. Depending on which clan a character comes from, they have access to different vampiric powers, and are afflicted with a different curse from Caine. They need to drink blood regularly, are paralyzed by a steak through the heart, and burn like a torch when exposed to daylight

Hey Dude!

Congrats on Both!  That is way cool!  You now officially have your hands full!   You are missed as well.
we were talking last week about how to continue gaming with you.  I've very glad that things have worked out.  My Director asked me last week what resources we needed and I immediately thought "a-ha!" Testing!  But something tells me your new position is way way cooler than what we have here.
Hope all is well and I'm up for post gaming.

A little more background:

There are thirteen vampire clans. Their political alliances have shifted over the years, sometimes a lot. If you want to know about that, just ask.

Assamites are largely muslim, and hail from a stronghold in the middle east, a mountain known as Alamut. They have a reputation as assassins among the clans, available for hire. They are deadly warriors, but little trusted by the other clans.

Brujah are a clan of philosopher kings, known for their great passion, and terrible rage. The Brujah once ruled Carthage, and they have never quite forgiven it's destruction.

Gangrel are drifters, more at home in the woods and alone than among their more social bretherin. It is said they can take the shape of animals, and make friends with the werewolves.

Giovanni are a recent clan. They are a family in a more literal sense than most clans, and have access to potent necromancy. They are also more concerted in their efforts at obtaining mundane power than most.

The Lasombra are a clan of Spanish vampires, with the passion of Spaniards. They enjoy the advantages of their noble roots, and are known to control shadows.

The Malkavians are crazy. Lunatics. That is the only trait they share, and it is a dark lunacy indeed.

Nosferatu have been religated to a hidden existence by their curse. Ugly, beyond anything a mortal might ever possibly be, the Nos count on each other, and their ability to remain hidden, to stay alive.

Clan Ravnos are all travellers, born of gypsy stock. They are tricksters, trusting to illusion more often than force of arms to see them through the nights.

Toreador are a clan of artists. They are social butterflies, but their abilities at political manipulation, and social prowess make them dangerous foes to underestimate.

The Tremere are mystics, their vampirism stolen from a clan now long extinct. Their gifts of Thaumaturgy have made them too valuable, however, to extinguish in turn.

The Tzimisce are of eastern european stock, and have that most disturbing of powers, fleshcrafting. They are immaculate hosts, so long as one stays on their good side.

The Ventrue see themselves as rulers. It was they who tore down Carthage. They who wish to rule the other clans.

Setites are of egyptian stock, and as the name suggests, they worship the egyptian god of the underworld, Set. But that doesn't make them bad people!

Hey Rob, I know we only got to meet the one time, but congratulations to you! I've been keeping up with the group at Atomic and would be interested in the play by post game if there's room for me.
