Dearest Mother,

We found it!  The hidden pathway to the lands beyond the mountains.  There were some complications of course.  One of them was Konraad dying.  Those Bloodbanes are an awful fragile line considering their dwarven blood.  It’s alright though as he ended up coming back from it.

We explored the caverns a bit and cleared out some of the local wildlife with little trouble.  As we were about to head up a set of stairs we found carved into the rock we heard a loud bit of splashing and coughing from the way we came.  Turns out one of the local thieves, Davian, had followed us looking to skim whatever treasures we found.  Some of our merry band looked at him askance, but never underestimate how handy someone with light hands might be.  He was here now anyway so he might as well come along.  We’ll just shake him down ... Letter from Lead Tiger, to the Mountain Monastery;

Esteemed Elders,

I am elated to inform you that our party has made much progress ever since I joined with them on the secluded hamlet of Safka. Though I was doubtful at first that the tales of prowess we received at first from the wandering bards were naught but boastful fabrications to increase their coin purse, my companions have proven thus far that they indeed have the potential to be saviors of this world.

After being nearly led astray by a pack of wolves and a cadre of hunters from a nearby rogue city, famed for being full of thieves and cut throats, we focused on the journey ahead and finally arrived to our destination. A sizable city of the north, bigger than any I've seen in my travels. Perhaps not of the size that our ancient scriptures tell us of the time before the Demons, but certainly well on the way to recover what was our legacy.

When we arrived, we immedia ... Read more »

After defeating the demons in the potion lab, Yalandra, Flan, Dar-Wynn, and Kurdreg take turns sampling the magical liquids. Each person is imbued with different powers and flaws. Among them, Flan discovers that she is pregnant (of course only she believes this), Dar-Wynn gains the head of a cat, and after several physical changes to Kurdreg, he finally succumbs to potion of instant death. The party gathers up the rest of the magic fertilizer and the heads of the four demons that were slain and heads (pun intended) back to Safka.

We are greeted by the grateful townsfolk upon our return. Kurdreg's family were saddened to hear of his death. At some point, Flan becomes convinced that Nori is the father of her child. The party rests up, and a week later Kurdreg is burned upon a funeral pyre at his funeral held by his family. Afterward, Trey shows up in town with a large backpack with a jar full of the magic fertilizer. She relays the story about what had happened o ... Read more »

Dearest Mother,

Things haven’t gone exactly as planned.  The first part of our trip went well.  It wasn’t hard to promote the brewery in the surrounding area.  One taste of our brews and everyone could see how far above the local swill they were.  We traded our brews with several taverns in exchange for goods and services and came out well ahead.  We also generated plenty of interest in our return with additional batches.  As a side note, the Lela Root Beer was overall more popular, but the Winter Nut Ale had a dedicated if smaller following.  I think perhaps adding a little spice to the Winter Nut Ale would increase its popularity.

We didn’t get into trouble until we ended up trapped in a collapsed cavern where we found some strange potions and books.  We found our way out obvio ... Read more »

What follows are the scribbles of what passes for Flan’s journal.

Doop deep doop, doop deep doop.

I think I’m supposed to write something here.

I suppose I should start from today since I forgot most of what has happened since we left the village.

We woke up in town, not the town full of nasties, but the other one equally full of nasties that won’t immediately rob you blind and stab you- not necessarily in that order.

We stumbled out of bed and filtered back to the bar where a very friendly shepherd was chatting it up with us. It’s good to see a friendly face for a change! I was beginning to think everyone here was a prude. What with the blacksmith and the guards being mean to me all the time! Loomis is his name apparently, and he makes milk! That’s cool I guess.

I also talked to the archaeologist lady and asked her for her digits. For purely professional re ... Read more »

A brass bell chimes as Flan, Yalandra and Kurdreg enter the blacksmith shop through a crude but sturdy wooden door. A high pitched voice greets them and Kurdreg looks around to see where it could be coming from. They all expect to see a small child or perhaps a young woman, but are taken aback to see a large imposing man, his build evidence of his arduous trade. They all tilt their heads to take in the relatively giant figure and are momentarily paralyzed by the beady eyes bearing down on them from a head that appears to belong to a rat.

“Welcome folks. Take a look around. Let me know if anything catches your eye.” The squeak of his words is almost comical. Kurdreg and Yalandra manage to compose themselves and peruse the shop, hoping to find tools that will be useful on their journey, but also that they can afford.

“What's up with your head?” Kurdreg cringed hoping he didn't actually hear those word coming from Flan. “H ... Read more »
